Zapier

Zapier was founded in 2011 with a simple paradigm that remains the product's engine: a Zap has a trigger (event in an app) and one or more actions (tasks in other apps), with no code at any step. That simplicity has earned it in a decade the largest integrations library on the market: 8,000+ apps versus Make's ~3,000 or n8n's ~500, and the ability to remain profitable without traditional funding rounds beyond seed.

In 2025 Zapier officially rebranded itself as an AI Orchestration Platform. It is not a cosmetic change: it reflects the thesis that the next generation of enterprise software will not be built with traditional code or with linear automation, but with AI agents that orchestrate actions across a heterogeneous stack. Zapier, with its maturity in authentication, error handling and observability over thousands of apps, is the natural infrastructure for those agents to execute real work.

On top of the classic Zap engine, an entire stack has been built: Zapier Agents (GA in May 2025) execute reasoning and interpretation; Copilot (September 2025) builds Zaps in natural language with ~92% success on simple flows; the MCP Server exposes 30,000+ actions to external LLMs (Claude, ChatGPT) via Model Context Protocol; Canvas for designing workflows; Tables as a relational database; Interfaces, Forms, Chatbots and AI Guardrails. Core billing remains per-task, AI products have their own units of measurement in parallel.
