What you will learn

  1. 01

Find and update people and company records with understandable data.

  2. 02

Use lists and views to review relationships and opportunities within the agreed process.

  3. 03

Record notes, tasks and a clear next action so follow-ups can be resumed or handed over with context.

A proposed programme

Pick up a B2B relationship after a first meeting. Find the person and their company, update their follow-up in a prepared list and leave a note and task for another salesperson. The aim is for them to find the context, distinguish confirmed information from open questions and know what to do next.

We adapt the selection and depth of the modules to the group's starting point and goals.

01

Understand records

People, companies, attributes and navigation within your team's configuration.

You will work on

  • Find the person and company through search and check their relationship before adding another record.
  • Update confirmed information in existing editable attributes and leave unknown information unresolved.
  • Distinguish record data from attributes describing its follow-up in a list.
Practice
Find Lucía Torres and Brisa Demo, check their relationship and review which information belongs to the person, company or sales follow-up.
How you will check it
The participant retrieves the correct records and explains where to update each value without duplicating the relationship or changing the schema.
02

Track opportunities

Lists, views and information updates aligned with your stages and agreements.

You will work on

  • Find Brisa Demo's entry in the prepared list and review its stage and follow-up owner attributes.
  • Update the stage to reflect what happened and the follow-up owner to reflect the agreed handover.
  • Retrieve the entry through a practice view or filter, distinguishing this from changing data or permissions.
Practice
Place Brisa Demo in “First meeting held”, assign follow-up to Diego and find the entry in the view of relationships to pick up.
How you will check it
The entry reflects the completed meeting and who continues; person and company data remain in their records, and a filter does not create another entry.
03

Prepare the next action

Notes, tasks and criteria that give follow-ups sufficient context.

You will work on

  • Write a note on the company record separating needs, agreements and open questions, with a reference to the contact person.
  • Create a task linked to the record with a specific objective, assignee and date, checking these separately from the list's follow-up owner.
  • Hand follow-up to another person, who will retrieve the note and task to explain the next step.
Practice
Prepare Diego's review of priorities with Lucía; exchange the case with another participant and correct the task if its assignee or date is missing.
How you will check it
The person receiving the work finds the documented meeting and an outstanding task with its objective, assignee and date checked.

A first meeting another salesperson can pick up

Teaching example

Suggested practice: prepare a follow-up for a customer or collaborator relationship, update a sample record and review what happens when information is missing. We leave context and a next action for another person; the exercise uses the available configuration.

Fictional classroom case. Lucía Torres at Brisa Demo has explained that two teams need to coordinate sales materials. Marina records the first meeting and Diego will continue follow-up. The list and attributes are already prepared; the budget and start date are still unconfirmed.

Starting point
The company is in the list, but the note only says “Good meeting”. It does not distinguish what Lucía needs, what remains to be asked or who will prepare the next conversation.
First attempt
The first version expands the note and makes Diego the owner of the list entry. It also creates “Pick up the conversation”, but the task has no assignee or date. Changing the list owner does not fill in these task details.
What we review
The trainer asks participants to retain budget and start date as open questions and clarify the objective: ask Lucía for the pilot's two priorities. The group links the task to Brisa Demo, checks Diego as its assignee and sets 16 November as the classroom follow-up date.
Result
Brisa Demo remains in “First meeting held”, with Diego responsible for follow-up. The note retains needs and questions, and the task “Ask Lucía for the pilot's two priorities” has an assignee and date. Someone else can pick it up without presenting budget or start date as confirmed.

Before calling it complete

  • Lucía and Brisa Demo are linked, and their data is distinguished from the list's stage and follow-up owner.
  • The note retains the need and open questions without turning them into agreements.
  • The task is linked to Brisa Demo with its objective, Diego as assignee and classroom date checked.

Before we begin

An Attio account and access to a practice workspace with authorised examples of working relationships. We review existing permissions and features; administration permissions are not required and redesigning the CRM is not assumed.

We use prepared classroom person and company records, a list and views, with permission to update records and entries. Notes, tasks, dates and both salespeople's access are checked. Data is fictional: notes and tasks are shared within the workspace. No email or calendar connection is needed.
